Global Search

The global search dialog lets you find dashboards, widgets, datasets, integrations, and users from anywhere in the app. Press Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) or ⌘+K (Mac) to open it, or click the Search… field in the header.

  • Windows/Linux: Press Ctrl+K
  • Mac: Press ⌘+K

Click the Search… input field in the top navigation bar. The shortcut hint displays your platform’s hotkey (Ctrl+K or ⌘+K) on the right side of the field.

  3. Results appear grouped by category
  4. Click a result, or use Arrow keys to highlight and Enter to open
  5. Press Escape or click outside the dialog to close

Filter results by clicking category chips at the top of the dialog:

  • All categories: Leave all chips unselected to search everything
  • Specific categories: Click chips to toggle them on. Only selected categories appear in results.

Selected chips show with a highlighted background. Click again to deselect.

Results display in sections by category. Each section header shows:

  • Category name (e.g., “Dashboards”)
  • Result count for that category

Results within each category are sorted alphabetically by name.

You can navigate results using either your mouse or keyboard.

Click any search result to go directly to that resource:

The active result shows a highlight border so you know which item will open when you press Enter. You can also hover over results with your mouse to change the active selection.

When you first open the dialog, a prompt encourages you to start typing: “What are you looking for? Start typing to search dashboards, datasets, integrations, and more.”

If your query returns nothing, you’ll see: “No results found. Try adjusting your search or selecting fewer categories.”

Suggestions:

  • Remove some category filters
  • Check for typos
  • Try broader search terms
  • Use partial word matches (searching “ticket” finds “tickets” and “ticketing”)
  • Case-insensitive: “Dashboard” and “dashboard” return the same results
  • Partial matching: Searching “sale” matches “Sales Dashboard”, “Monthly Sales”, etc.
  • Description matching: Descriptions are searchable for dashboards and widgets. When your query matches a description instead of the title, the result shows a snippet with the matching text highlighted in blue.
  • Widget context: Widget results include the dashboard name. If the dashboard has no title, search shows Untitled Dashboard.

When a dashboard or widget result matches your search query in its description rather than its name, you’ll see a contextual snippet below the result title:

  • The snippet shows the part of the description where your query matched
  • Matching text appears in blue to help you spot why the result appeared
  • Up to 80 characters display after the match, with an ellipsis (…) if there’s more content

This helps you understand why a result appeared when the match isn’t obvious from the title alone.

  • Searches execute in parallel across all categories
  • Each search returns up to 50 results
  • If you didn’t find the item you were looking for try narrowing down the search by category or adding more search characters
  • Loading spinner displays while results fetch
